It's Here...

As a part of my 'to do this year' list, I really want to read more. I'm not the typical type to pick up a book and read unless I really desperately want to read it, like the Twilight Saga and Harry Potter books for example.
For me, I thought the Kindle would be a great investment and a good way to get reading.
When I opened up my package, I was surprised at the size and weight of the Kindle mostly, even though my brother has the keyboard version and they both have the same screen size.
The keys are very simple to use as well as the page flicking buttons on the right and left hand side of your Kindle.
I really liked the fact that you could download a few free books via your device by wifi. I managed to download Alice's Adventures In Wonderland and Grimm's Fairy Stories. I'm also very lucky to be able to share some Kindle books my brother has downloaded over the past few months too. Now I have:

His Dark Materials
The Hunger Games
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

and a few other great reads on my Kindle!!

Overall Impression

Overall, I really love the Kindle so far. It's really compact and would easily fit in your bag, as well as being very light to carry. I think it's great value for money, especially if you're intending on reading quite a lot like I am (my aim is to read one new book each month, so wish me luck! Plus I want to do a mini book review on here each month!)
You will also save a lot of money. The Kindle book versions are cheaper, plus you can grab yourself some great classics for free or very very cheaply!
I think I will find it really handy when I go and visit my boyfriend. I've decided to visit him by train from now on to save some pennies since fuel is so damn expensive, so the Kindle will definite be a great companion on those long train journeys.

Do you have a Kindle? What do you think of it?
Or do you have any book recommendations?

I hope you're all having a lovely week so far!

  3. YAY IT CAME! :) As you know I LOVE my kindle. I have the one with 3G and wi-fi, means I can download books wherever I am which is handy! I've read quite a lot on it so far, I'm currently reading Lasting Damage by Sophie Hannah, who is one of my favourite authors [read her books!], I read the Time of My Life by Cecelia Ahern before that which was pretty good. Also ones to read:

    One Day by David Nicholls
The Dead of Summer by Camilla Way
Sister by Rosamund Lupton [Afterwards is good too]

  4. EEEk exciting times for you! I want one, but I definitely don't read enough.x

  5. So exciting, you lucky thing! I've not got one but I do love the idea of them! x

  6. I was thinking about getting a kindle with my Christmas money...I haven't as of yet as I have a few paperbacks on my shelf still to read. I think it would be great for travelling around but I think I might miss that feeling when you finish the end page and look at the book & think 'ooo i just read all of that :)' or is that just me? And then you can line them all up on the bookshelf!

  7. Looks amazing!! :) Definatley going to invest in a Kindle in the near future
