Photography Work : DyfalDonc

Yesterday I took some photographs of DyfalDonc's work. They are two very lovely artists based in north Wales, mad about making!
Their work is all about recycling/up-cycling, found images and ephemera, creating a beautiful range of accessories such as earrings, brooches, tote bags and rings!
I particularly love their heart earrings, I think they're so adorable!!

This was the first time I had met them, and I was greeted into their home with a lovely cup of tea and slice of cake (which is always a plus in my books!) Their house was also very lovely, filled with retro furniture and vintage bits and bobs! Definitely a big inspiration for a fellow vintage lover like me!

Click on the link above to view their Etsy shop, prices start from £2 for their cute and quirky pin badges!

I hope you're all having a lovely week so far!

Saturday In Instagram

French Martini - Cherry Ribbo - Bellini / Lavish Alice dress / Anwen's beef burger / Indoor sparklers / Huge selection of yummy cocktails / Drink up / Nachos to share / Me and Anwen / Still drinking / Carla with sparklers / Posh margherita to share / Birthday girl to be

I literally cannot believe that I can say this is my early birthday celebrations in instagram! I only just started using my iPhone yesterday. (After the bf accidentally broke my small digital camera) I bought myself a mini sim card, charged my phone up and headed out with the girls for some cocktails!
I've been obsessed with instagram for quite some time now, and I know some of you might be sick of seeing them on blogs. Personally I think it's a really good way to share your photos when you're on the go. Having to shuffle blogging around working and everything else I get up to, I'm glad I have my iPhone to take photographs of my daily life instead of having to carry my Canon around with me everywhere (which is not extremely practical...)
What do you think of instagram?
Do you own an iPhone?

There won't be a weekly roundup for this week unfortunately.... Sad times indeed. However, I will be making more of an effort to make it happen from now on! Next weekend I'm going up to see the bf and having a day out at Meadowhall which I'm really looking forward to!
I hope you've all had a really lovely week and an even better weekend!

Pink Cupcakes

This is one of my birthday recipes! Since pink is one of my favourite colours, I baked all pink cupcakes with pink frosting and a strawberry on top!!

For this recipe you will need:

250g butter
250g caster sugar
250g self raising flour
4 medium eggs
4 table spoons of milk
A dash of food colouring

Mix all ingredients together and add the food colouring last. Use as much as you want! I actually thought I had put way too much colour in, but I really liked how they turned out in the end!
Bake for approximately 20 minutes on 180 degrees.
Make sure a skewer comes out clean when you check them.
Leave to cool on a wire rack.

For the butter cream icing:

5oz butter
10oz icing sugar
2 teaspoons of milk
Food colouring of your choice

And there you have it! Perfectly pink cupcakes!
Have you tried experimenting with food colouring?

Happy baking!

My lunch at the train station / My Kipling bag which I love so so much - thank you lovely boyfriend / The quiet train back from Stockport / Chester station - one of my favourites / My travelling ticket / The Station House 'toilet' - to let! / Contents of my bag - Diary, purse and Kindle / Chester station once again / Because you can never have too much of a good thing - I love innocent!

For some reason I feel really behind with my blogging lately. I genuinely feel like the weather has been awful, the opportunities haven't been the best, and in general I just haven't taken that many photographs as opposed to before when I used to take looooooooads each week!!

I feel one reason I am lacking blog posts is the fact I don't always travel with my camera. Take last weekend as an example: I went over to see the boyfriend at the flat. I had a four hour journey ahead of me, and didn't take my canon on the trip! (Me and my boyfriend have the same camera, so I thought I could just use his to capture anything over the weekend) However, being a big fan of train stations (Harry Potter did help to bring the magic back into old stations) travelling from one place to another, you genuinely don't know what you might see on your way or who you'll bump into. I started taking photographs with my phone, and as you can see, they're not the best ever.

...However (there is a point to this, I promise!) I've taken the plunge, and soon I will be a proud owner of an iPhone! I literally cannot wait! I've been such a huge fan of Instagram, plus from now on I can capture anything at any time!

Anyway, I hope you're all having a really lovely week so far! I cannot wait for this weekend since I'm celebrating my birthday a bit early! My mini cocktail tea party is still on so I will be blogging a lot of recipes and ideas throughout next week! I'm also excited to be going to see the bf the following weekend and spend a day shopping at Meadowhall!
Are you up to anything exciting this weekend?

Pancake Day!

Happy Pancake Day everyone!! Here are some pics for you to drool over!!
Gosh, this past week has seemed a very hectic one, but it's back to normal for the time being, and hopefully back to the usual blogging!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I travelled back on the train yesterday after visiting my boyfriend at the flat. Since I don't carry my Canon around with me on the journey (my boyfriend has the exact same camera, so if I want to take photographs I use his when I'm there) I used my phone to take some cute pictures on the train and at the station...Stupidly, I can't remember where I placed the usb cable! Grrr!

So today is pancake day, make the most of it! Enjoy yourselves!! I made some for my dad earlier today, and stole one extremely juicy pancake! (I prefer mine with sugar and some fresh lemon juice!!)
How do you prefer yours?

Valentines Weekend

I hope you've all had a very lovely week! Mine has been spent constantly working, and I literally haven't found the time to do anything I wanted to!
On Friday night I took the train to see the bf and we cooked a lovely meal together last night! This was our 'Valentines Day' celebration a couple of days late!

Next weekend, I'm celebrating my 23rd birthday a bit early with some lovely friends and lots of cocktails! I literally cannot wait to share with you all my ideas and recipes! (I definitely need to find the time between work and other things this week to blog some more!)

My to do list for next week:

Birthday party shopping
Visit Conwy Castle and take lots of cute photographs
Work (extremely boring...!)
Bake angel cakes
Make some party decorations

Have a lovely Sunday afternoon everyone. I promise my blogging will be back to normal soon!!
Hope you all had a very lovely week last week!

Berry Blast Smoothie

Since I'm still really into making my daily smoothies, I thought I would share with you a very yummy berry smoothie that I have been making for the past week!
I would really love to make a week in smoothies post too, with a different recipe for each day!

You will need:

Half a banana
5 strawberries
Large handful of blueberries
5 blackberries
Dash of milk

Blend all together and serve over ice! Or, if like me you store your fruits in the freezer, your smoothie should already be ice cold!
Add as much or as little milk as you like (or alternatively you can substitute this for orange juice or apple juice!) The less you add, the thicker your smoothie will be.

I hope you've all had a very lovely week and a nice Valentines Day! This week once again has literally flown by, and I feel as if I haven't had much time for myself, so unfortunately the blog posts have been very limited (and due to lots of work and awful weather this week, I haven't been able to go out much!)
Anyway, I'm off to see my bf this weekend and will probably be taking a few pics over the weekend as we are 'celebrating' a late Valentines on Saturday!
Also next weekend I'll be having an early birthday party and am intending on blogging a LOT of DIY party decorations, recipes, ideas and so on!

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

My Love For Vintage

Floral Bouquet / £15 / Listers Interiors
Floral Teapot / £5 / Local Charity Shop
All Teacups & Saucers / £1 each / Charity Shops

Happy Valentines everyone!! I hope you'll all have a very very lovely day.
My Valentines won't be 'celebrated' until the weekend when I go to visit my bf at the flat! I don't think we have much planned other than cooking a lovely meal together and watching a film (which is perfectly fine with me - I never go 'all out' for Valentines!)

So anyway, as it's Valentines Day, I thought I would share with you my love for vintage! My birthday is actually coming up soon (and I'm planning an early birthday party a week on Saturday!) Currently, this is the little theme I am going for!
I will be sharing some party ideas with you, along with some party decorations on a budget and also how to achieve your very own vintage tea party! (So keep your eyes peeled for some cake recipes and easy party decorations within the next week!!)

My love for vintage teacups, teapots, anything 'afternoon tea' related is absolutely obsessive!
The minute I saw this pot at the charity shop, I instantly fell in love with it and couldn't leave the shop without it! I have a real eye for vintage and I definitely know what I like and dislike the minute I see them! After further research yesterday, I found out a little bit more about it. In fact, it is a coffee pot, dating back from the 1940's - 1950's. The brand is Shelley's English Bone China, and I was shocked to find out that their coffee pots sell between a £100 - £300!!
I'm really really fascinated by what you can find at charity shops. I'm also really curious about their previous history and the fact they've had a life before they reached you! This has possibly inspired a blog post on bone china and charity shop bargains!

I hope you have a lovely day!

Weekly Roundup

Experimenting with some new nail polishes! Barry M Instant Croc Effects + Barry M Metallic nail varnish!

I can now proudly say my bobble hat has indeed been finished! This is what it looks like on! Since then, I've knitted another one but with cables in it (I'm a huge fan of cable knitting!) It still needs a bobble at the top, but when it's completely finished I will take some photographs and also post the pattern up on here!
(I've also been a little obsessed with the jumper I'm wearing in the photograph - I got it for £5 in the Primark sale when I went to visit my bf and I love it!!)

After work on Tuesday night, I went for a lovely catch-up with one of my friends. We went for a lovely meal together and drank some mock-tails (they were incredibly yummy!!) She usually works evenings, and I work mornings, and it's so hard for us to spend time together!!

Thank you also to the lovely Sophie (she posted me some gorgeous goodies which I got on Monday) If you haven't already checked out her blog, please do here, it's so lovely! I love all her handmade goodies!

This place I found yesterday is an absolute gem! I'm hoping to find the time to actually go and have a lovely afternoon tea there this week as we could only stop by for a photograph!! It's so adorable and definitely my kind of place! They also serve tea in vintage teacups and sell them there too! I CANNOT wait! I've been looking for somewhere to go for afternoon tea around here, and now I've found it!
I think I will definitely have to buy a little hand knitted cake as a souvenir!
Oh, and after seeing the cute little knitted tea cosy in the window (I couldn't see the price because the tag was facing the other way) it has now become a challenge to knit myself one....But ideally I should buy the teapot first!

Yesterday was a rather lovely day! After work, me and my dad went for a trip to Penmon in Anglesey to see the lovely lighthouse! I have an obsession with sea related things! It was definitely a lovely and calming place to go after a busy and rather hectic week (I feel as if I haven't had a chance to do anything this week!!)
After our lovely walk, we went to Beaumaris which is a very beautiful place (I highly recommend a visit if you're around the Anglesey area any time!) It's filled with beautiful cafes, florists, boutiques, the lot! The pastel coloured houses scattered all over Beaumaris are to die for also, I wish I could live in one of those houses one day, probably when I'm old and retired! Ha!

This vintage teapot was a very happy purchase I made yesterday whilst visiting some charity shops in Beaumaris with my dad. I had literally been looking for a really nice vintage teapot for such a long time! I also got a few vintage teacups and tins too which I will probably blog about very very soon!
For my birthday which is coming up very soon, I'm actually thinking of making some cocktails and serving them in my teapots and vintage teacups!
I'm also thinking of blogging about some party decoration ideas on a budget and sharing my birthday photographs with all of you too along with any recipes I can think of!

I hope you've all had a very lovely week, and apologies for the lack of blog posts (it's been really busy and hectic this week for some reason, with very little time to myself!)
This week, I'll be mostly planning my early birthday party (help, I am in desperate need of some ideas!!) Working, and hopefully some more walking and days out with my camera!!

Banana And Strawberry Smoothie

Recently, I've been eating very healthy and have rediscovered my passion for making smoothies! I became obsessed with making them a few years ago after discovering a little gem of a cafe in Llandudno  where they made fresh smoothies from a vast menu of deliciousness!
Unfortunately for me, a while ago they closed down....Very sad times indeed. But by then, I had bought a very high tech smoothie maker and had experimented with lots and lots of ingredients to create some of my favourite smoothies!

For this particular recipe you will need:

1 very large banana
half a box of strawberries (roughly 8-10 of them)
dash of apple juice

First of all, you'll need to peel your banana and chop it up, same with your strawberries; chop them up and place in a smoothie maker or blender.
I like to make sure all the fruit is covered in apple juice, this is how I know I have used enough juice, if you prefer yours slightly thicker, or thinner, add more or less.
Blend all your ingredients together until smooth and serve over ice.

A fantastic and easy way to keep fruit is to freeze them. Frozen fruits make amazing smoothies too!
I fill a plastic container with enough fruits for one serving, and leave them out to slightly defrost just before blending! This way, you don't need to use any ice either, and your bananas won't have turned brown after a week! Perfect!

I'll be posting more smoothie recipes up very soon, so keep your eyes peeled!
I hope you're having a very lovely week!

Weekly Roundup

Lora came over on Monday, and since I've now become her 'personal photographer' haha, I took these photos of her recent pieces! I really love these earrings. She's actually made these as a part of her Valentines limited edition collection, and I've just ordered a pair too, but in black (since I wear a lot of black, it seemed more appropriate! I've seen them, they were exactly as I thought they'd be since she hadn't made any black ones, and I'm literally in love!!)

My 'healthy option' muffins made without any dairy products!! They go really well with my banana and strawberry smoothie (I will put the recipe up here very soon!)

On Monday afternoon, I actually went to Aber Falls with Lora before photographing her work. It was a surprisingly sunny day considering it was meant to rain and snow according to Mr Weatherman!
To reach the waterfall, it's approximately a mile from the car park, and it's all uphill! We were walking against the wind and so it made it twice as hard (definitely a good work out for the legs!)

Click here to take a look at Lora's blog. When I receive my earrings I will definitely be blogging about them!!

On Friday afternoon, I caught the train to go and see my boyfriend, and yesterday it actually started to snow here! This is the view from out the living room window at the flat! I'm actually hoping it won't snow any more since I have to catch a train back tomorrow morning!!
Also, I saw the coolest woman ever on the train on Friday! She had a huge tote bag with her full of wool and knitting! She actually pulled out a beautifully cabled what I could only assume would eventually be a hat, which is rather strange since I've now started on another hat which will be cabled! I can't wait to show you all the finished project and share the pattern with you.

This is also something I'm rather excited about! As you saw in last week's roundup post, I had a photograph of this knitted bobble hat (minus the bobble!) Well, I can now proudly say it has been sewn up and it has a very large bobble on top!! I love it so so much that I've even started knitting another one!
I will probably post the pattern up on here soon! In fact, it's a really great pattern for beginners. So if you want to knit something very simple that looks impressive, this is definitely for you!
(Keep your eyes peeled!)

I hope you've all had a really lovely week and weekend!

Banana, Strawberry And Cinnamon Muffins

For the past couple of days I've been eating extra healthy. I'm trying to include as many fruit and vegetables as possible in my diet since I know I don't eat enough of them on a daily basis!
This recipe in particular is dairy free. It requires no butter or milk which reduces the fat in these little muffins.

(to make 12 muffins)

375g mixed fresh fruit
(in this case, I used banana and strawberry, but you can use anything - blueberries, blackberries, cranberries)
225g flour
100g brown sugar
1tbsp baking powder
4 tbsp vegetable oil
(this seems optional, with my banana and strawberries, the mixture was already good and not too dry!)
2 eggs
2 tbsp cinnamon

Preheat the oven to 175 degrees

Mix all ingredients together and spoon into paper cases

Bake for approximately 20 minutes

Leave to cool fully on a wire rack and store in an airtight container for up to 3 days!

There you have it, a low fat, dairy free muffin.
Happy baking!
