Weekly Roundup

New Ikea desk // Leopard nails // Desk accessories
Filming with this cutie soon // I want this // Love post from Ladybird Likes
Lovely hair clips // Cute kitty (not mine) // Cute messages that make me smile
Custom made necklace // Inspiration // Lovely Zoe

In all honesty, this week has gone rather quickly! My second week of work went well as I spent two days on a course which was a good eye opener in terms of the media industry.
I received my custom necklace from Ladybird Likes this week, and I am incredibly happy with it! I'll be blogging about my order this week, so I won't say too much!

My boyfriend is finally back from university for good (yay!) He does have quite a lot of work still left to do until he has to hand all his projects in however, but it's nice to have him back (and nice not to have to drive 3 hours to see him)
This weekend has been rather horrible in terms of weather. We were hoping to visit Betws Y Coed to take some photographs and have a lovely walk along the river. Unfortunately, our Sunday didn't quite go to plan due to the weather. Instead, we spent the day at a local garden centre (being incredibly inspired by all the lovely interior displays they had)

I have a couple of projects on the go at the moment - cross stitching, wooden DIY projects, film etc - I want to finish all of these this week if possible (and of course blog about them)
I have another Tutorial Tuesday coming up this week (I hope you enjoyed last week's 'edition'!) Oh, and also....My blog is currently 'under construction' as I'm adding a menu on the top! Let me know what you think of the changes and the new header.
My boyfriend is coming over this week to see me after work (which is very kind of him - now he has his own car!) So I'm thinking of having a noodle night and attempting to cook a huge 'ramen' noodle soup for us both! Wish me luck...!

Anyway, I hope you've all had a really nice week and a lovely weekend.

Weekly Roundup (In Instagram!)

New zebra scarf // Flowers that brighten up my day // New (and extremely cheap) shoes!
Wonky heart shaped pebble // Happy // DIY planter
I love this // Nail wraps // Reminds me of Daisy by Marc Jacobs
Hair that won't grow // Paper flowers // Rain, rain and more rain
Pascal // Pinterest Board // New plant for my desk
Lovely clouds outside // Topshop order // Hello Kitty glasses case

A LOT has happened this week, hence so many photographs! I'm also utterly addicted to Instagram, I find it so easy to use and such a great way to document the things that go on in your life!

On Tuesday, I started my new job which was very exciting although slightly nerve-wracking! Since I'm now working until 5, I don't get a LOT of time to myself, although I do like to spend my evenings crafting or doing something creative!

Over the weekend, I went to visit my boyfriend at the flat. He's actually finishing uni next week for good...I can't believe this year has gone by so quickly! I was helping him bring his stuff home, so that was indeed my last ever trip there...! I can't wait for him to come home. It'll be so nice to not have to drive for 3 hours just to see him...

So unfortunately this has to be an extremely quick blog post. I'm hoping to share a little bit more with you next week (and try and be a little bit more organised with everything)
I hope you all had an extremely lovely weekend and enjoy the week ahead!

Oh, and congratulations to my blog giveaway winner Rosie (A Rosie Outlook!) Well done!!!

Wedding Outfit Ideas

This is a rather unusual post for me. I don't often blog much about fashion...But this was an emergency!

I'm going to a wedding in three weeks, and I literally have no idea what to wear...! Everything seems to be going against me somehow, as I really need to educate myself on appropriate wedding attire!
First of all, I found the most stunning cream dress on ASOS, however, I immediately cancelled my order after remembering 'you should NOT wear white, off white or cream to a wedding!' I was so set on the dress, that I ordered it in another colour....red. Also a rather big no no in the wedding world...I wish I could've found a blog post or website to help me with my outfit dilemmas!

Anyway, putting all my wedding outfit disasters aside, I've been absolutely loving Topshop recently for their pastel perfect items! I think their dresses are a real perfect and safe option for a wedding, remaining classy and sophisticated.
It's also important to be comfortable. I'll be there all day long and on my feet for most of it due to the fact I'm also playing the role of the photographer! For me, the shoes above are just something nice to look at and lust over! In reality, I'll be switching between my comfy flats and mid heel courts!

I've ordered the pink dress in the first image off the Topshop website. I actually saw it in person, and was left rather surprise by the fabric and the weight of it. However, I think it's good quality and I can see myself (if it fits nicely) wearing it again and again!
What do you think of it?
And most importantly, what would you wear to a wedding?

I'll keep you all updated on what I actually decide to wear very soon, followed by many pictures of the day itself hopefully!

DIY Wooden Planter Box

Wooden Shoe Rack // Argos
Plants // Ikea

I've been eyeing up some vintage wooden planters on Ebay and Etsy for quite some time now, but since saving money is a definite must, I decided to make my own (minus the vintage factor)
This gorgeous photo posted by Fancie on their Facebook wall inspired the look and feel of the project! (They've now added these cute planters to their Meadowhall shop)

As I didn't want to spend much money on the project, I decided to use this old shoe rack I had which was no longer in use. It originally cost £5 ish from the Argos value range a few years ago.
I took it all apart and decided to arrange the wood pieces to see what would work best. I then cut the pieces to an appropriate size and attached them together to form a box shape! As easy as that! All the pebbles have been collected from a local beach too!

So, this is my 'green fingered' attempt to fill my bedroom with lovely stuff (on a budget!)
Have you tried making anything like this?

Weekly Roundup (In Instagram!)

Craft time // Bunny nails // Half finished cross stitch
Gorgeous package from Zoe // Necklace // My purchase
Dinas Dinlle beach // My outfit for Thursday // Beach time

This week, like any other, has been and gone already! Since it's been the Easter holiday, I've pretty much been lounging around; as days have blended together, I've lost count of what I've been up to and when!

One of the loveliest highlights of my week has been receiving the most gorgeous package I've ever had from Zoe at Ladybird Likes. She's an absolute star and such a lovely lady! It's been nice to get to know a little bit more about her in my previous Q&A with her in which she was more than willing to partake!
As you can see, I'm hosting a giveaway to win some of her goodies, and whoever wins will be one lucky person! Her packages are so overwhelmingly gorgeous, I may have to put in another purchase myself!

Throughout the rest of the week, I've been trying to keep myself busy with all sorts of craft based activities. I've started a new cross stitch, and it's turning out to be a real cutie! I can't wait to finish it now!
I've also made a planter box with my dad which I've painted and started to collect pebbles to place inside! The related blog post will be up soon!

I always forget just how much I love the sea and walking along beaches... Wherever I find a house one day, it's got to be within easy reach to the beach (which it most definitely will since I'm staying in north Wales!) I really do love it here...
I caught up with Lora on Thursday and we went on a lovely walk along Dinas Dinlle beach as well as collecting pieces of sea glass (this has pretty much become our new hobby!)
I really wish I could  spend more time on the beach. I do genuinely think I should have a dog to take with me! Unfortunately, my dad won't let me have one which I think is incredibly unfair seeing as I'm 23...!

I hope you've all had a really lovely week!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

It's Time For A Wedding

Before you jump to any conclusions, no my boyfriend has not suddenly proposed! These photographs are for a friend (she's getting married next month - I'm so excited!)
We've been discussing ideas since I'll be taking photographs of the wedding along with my boyfriend who's taking the role of the other half of my brain for the day! After the wedding, we're hoping to get a photo book printed as a cute reminder of the day for her - so these photographs are absolutely 100% important!

As for me, I have no idea what to wear for her wedding! If you have any suggestions, please let me know! I've seen a couple of Topshop dresses I like on their site, but when I've seen them in person, they haven't won me over! I really want my outfit to have a quirky and cute feel to it. Pink being the colour of the wedding, I'd like to find a light pink dress!

I'll be sharing some of the wedding photographs on here once edited, along with the finished photo book I hope!

Ladybird Likes Q & A + Mini Giveaway

Recently, I've been absolutely loving Ladybird Likes! I came across Zoe's Etsy shop after a recommendation and put in a purchase on Sunday! I got in touch with the lovely Zoe to get to know a bit more about her and to share a quick Q&A on here!

Hello, tell us a bit more about yourself!
Hi, my name is Zoe! I'm 25 (nearly 26!) and I live in London with my parents, sisters and pupster Jasper!

What do you do for a living?
Right now I'm almost entirely self-employed, apart from working one day a week in a shop. Running Ladybird Likes is my main job, and I spend 6 days a week on it, working from 9am till about 2am! Crazy, I know, but I absolutely love my job so the long hours don't bother me too much.

How did you get into jewellery making?
I've always been into jewellery - when I was a teenager I wore tons of jewellery all the time - piles of bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and rings, all at the same time! And I made a lot of it myself from things I found at car boot sales. So it was kind of natural that when I started crafting more seriously I would make jewellery. I love making all sorts of things (I also crochet, embroider, sew, and make things from paper) but jewellery is always what I come back to, and I guess it's kind of my comfort zone.

In general, what inspires you?
It sounds lame, but everything. I am a writer and a photographer (that's what I studied at university) and so have always recorded everything around me, sort of scrapbooking imagery, and words, and moments through my writing and photography. I look back over these when I need inspiration. I also have the hugest soft spot for anything old - I love the typography, and colours, and illustrations on old packaging - the amount of detail and thought that went into say the labels on a thread spool just blows me away!

By looking at your jewellery, you are influenced by vintage items - share a bit about your love for vintage / why you love collecting?
My Nanny had the most incredible array of vintage clothes, shoes, bags, jewellery... everything really... and that is how my love for vintage things started. I love the way old things look, and I love the story behind the objects too - there is nothing I love more than buying a dress from an old lady at a car boot sale, and her telling me where she wore it. It's like owning a piece of someone else's life, and that never fails to fascinate me. MY love of old things has also spawned numerous collections - I'm drawn to certain types of things over and over, and before I realise it I have a whole box full! So far my collections include; vintage cameras (especially polaroids), aprons, cigarette cards, buttons, old tins, keys, mugs, anything with deers or owls on, brooches, stamps, postcards and playing cards.

What do you do in your spare time (if you have any!)?
I don't have much free time, but when I do it's usually spent either reading (at the moment I'm re-reading all of my H G Wells - The Men in the Moon is probably my favourite!), watching movies (especially Asian horror films or Ghibli anime), walking my pupster Jasper, or visiting car boot sales, charity shops, and junk shops to feed my thrifting addiction.

Any aspirations / dreams for the future in terms of your jewellery or any personal goals?
At the moment Ladybird Likes is still teeny tiny, but I have big plans for it! At the moment my biggest goal is to be able to support myself entirely on my income from Ladybird Likes - it's a scary step, but one which I will need to take at some point! My next goal is more of a personal one, and that is to move out of my parent's house! Ha! I love my family more than anything else, but it's time to fly the nest. Just need to work on the whole 'making money to pay rent' thing...

Any advise for anyone out there that would like to start making their own jewellery?
Go for it! Look on ebay and Etsy for cheap supplies, or visit a local craft store, and just go for it! Wear your jewellery out, gift it to friends and family, and if anyone asks where your wonderful necklace/bracelet/earrings are from tell them proudly that you made them yourself. That's how every single jewellery maker started out. Maybe you'll love it, maybe you won't, but you will never know until you try.

Thank you Zoe for a lovely Q&A!!

Easter Bunny Nail Art

Models Own // Nude Beige // Snow White // Pastel Pink

I hope you all had a very very lovely Easter weekend!! I haven't really been celebrating Easter much, or in fact had any eggs except for the one I shared with my boyfriend last week! I might pop to the shops and buy a cheeky Malteaster Bunny or two!
However, I did try these bunny nails out just to join in on the Easter spirit! I saw Sophie's photo on Instagram and instantly fell in love with hers! Unfortunately, my Models Own nail art pen has clogged up a while back, and I have no other nail pens, so for these nails I used an old and extremely thin knitting needle and dipped it in some polish!

Did you experiment with some nail art over the weekend?

Weekly Roundup (In Instagram!)

This last week has been spent with my boyfriend for a long weekend and also spending some quality me time which I had been missing out on so much these past couple of weeks.
On Sunday, me and my boyfriend went to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park which I posted about earlier this week. We had a really lovely time there, the weather was just right, but unfortunately we arrived rather late and only got to spend an hour or so there!

On Tuesday, I drove my boyfriend to view a car he'd been wanting to buy for a while. We saw the car, we both liked it, and he went on and said yes! (By now, he's a very proud owner of a little orange car I like to call Nemo) Anyway, whilst driving him, I passed Ikea...Being the absolute interior design freak I am, we just had to pay a visit on the way back! Looking at all the furniture, the amazing kitchens, the gorgeous and quirky home accessories, I was well and truly in heaven!! Hopefully, we're paying another visit very soon...

Wednesday, I was back home and we strangely had a bit of snow after the extremely hot weather last week! I also had a job interview (scary times considering I hadn't been for an interview in such a long time, but also, it was a job I really badly wanted and thought was perfect for me!)

On Thursday, I started another DIY project for my Ikea plants! I will be showing you the final results very soon! That evening, I also got a very exciting phone call to say that I had got the job...!! I still can't believe it. After months of being rather unhappy, I've made myself proud!

I hope you've all had a really lovely week as well! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Yorkshire Sculpture Park

On Sunday, I went on a little trip to Yorkshire Sculpture Park with my boyfriend! I didn't know it was so close to the flat! We didn't arrive until late afternoon, so it was a very very quick trip, but I definitely enjoyed myself and I'd go back for sure!
To really make the most of your visit, I would suggest spending at least a couple of hours at the park! It's much bigger than I was expecting, and it really is impossible to walk round the entire park in the time we had!
(And a heads up, the parking is £5 but admission to the park itself is free. I'm glad I had enough pound coins on me!)

The shop at the park is absolutely adorable, stocking all types of quirky stuff! I'll have a few more pictures in my weekly roundup blog post on Sunday!

Have you ever been to Yorkshire Sculpture Park?
What did you think of it?

Weekly Roundup

This week once again has just been and gone! Lots have happened throughout this week!
About two weeks ago I did something to my back while at work, throughout this last week it got worse and worse. Unfortunately, I've had to take some time off work to rest! The doctor said it's very important to still keep walking and moving about, if I sit around I tend to lock it and it's extremely painful!

On Wednesday I went for a lovely walk with my dad to Llanberis. The nice weather has continued in north Wales, and it's been so lovely! On Thursday we went back to visit the Slate Museum in Llanberis (see post below for some pics!) It was a really nice afternoon out, and admission is free! If you're in the area, I suggest you go there, it's very educational!

Ever since I received my Vivienne Westwood pumps last week, I've literally been living in them! I find they go with almost anything and they're fairly comfortable to wear (minus the one blister I got when I first used them)

On Friday I drove up to see my boyfriend, and yesterday we spent a lovely day out at Meadowhall where he was treated to his very first pretzel experience and felt extremely sick afterwards! Next week, I still have time off work and I have a couple of things planned. I'm doing some more photography work as well as taking photographs of my friend's wedding next month (so lots of planning to do with her as well!)

I hope you've all had a really lovely week.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday everyone!
